After defeating Derek Brunson via unanimous decision at UFC 208 last month in Brooklyn, former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva took to Instagram this week to call for rematches with current Champ Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping and Nick Diaz.
(Translated From Portuguese)
“We are three great professionals, what makes the most sense at the moment, is not his fight with any other, but with me, regardless of belt. Regardless of the show, we respect each other, a new fight between us, would be a great fight of gentlemen.
Because with Nick, it was a No Contest, we have a story to tell, I’ll wait for you in Brazil.
And I’m waiting for you, Mr. Bisping, after your fight with GSP.
Exterminate once and for all this doubt of the fans about who really won”
Silva fought ‘The Count’ last year at UFC Fight Night 84, losing a close five-round war even though it looked like the fight could have been stopped by referee Herb Dean after Anderson landed a brutal knee (after Bisping’s mouthpiece debacle) that send Bisping crashing against the cage at the end of the third round:
“…Sometimes it’s like in Brazil, total corruption,” The Spider said after Fight Night London: Silva vs. Bisping.
Nick Diaz hasn’t stepped foot inside the octagon since he fought Silva at UFC 183, a fight that the Stockton slugger lost (it was ultimately turned into a no contest after Silva and Diaz both tested positive for USADA/NAC banned substances after the fight.). Diaz even reportedly turned down two title fights he was offered by the UFC after he completed his 18-month Nevada Athletic Commission suspension last August.
Silva made no mention of former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre in his Instagram post, even though GSP mentioned last week in a press conference that he would still be open to a historic fight with Anderson if he beats Michael Bisping in his return. Anderson said in a press conference prior UFC 198, “It would be an honor to fight him (Georges).”
