Khabib Nurmagomedov will have the opportunity to capture the UFC Interim Lightweight Championship this Saturday as he will take on Tony Ferguson at 155 pounds, but before he battles ‘El Cucuy’ at UFC 209, ‘The Eagle’ got a chance to meet ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson thanks to his friend/manager, Ali Abdelaziz.
“We come in here for meet with Mike Tyson, you know is like — crazy!” said Nurmagomedov.
“Mike Tyson is Mike Tyson, that’s just… no comment.. I have no comment.” - Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The UFC Embedded team couldn’t capture the meeting on video because Tyson wouldn’t allow it, but they did capture some footage afterwards to catch a glimpse of what the former Boxing Champ gifted Khabib (starts :40 minute mark on video above).
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans also made an appearance in the fourth episode of UFC Embedded, as he did a hilarious Mike Tyson impression while in the sauna with Nurmagomedov. Evans will make his middleweight debut against Dan Kelly this Saturday.
Tyson had previously told Evans, “People move into the spotlight and they feel like they own it, but nobody owns the spotlight — it just goes.”
“That’s the way it does, it just moves,’ said Evans.
UFC 209 will air live on Pay-Per-View March 4 (10 p.m. ET) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and be headlined by a Welterweight Championship rematch between Tyron ‘The Chosen One’ Woodley and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson after their first match, at UFC 205, ended in a draw.
Pre-fight Open Workout Media Interviews from Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tyron Woodley, Stephen Thompson, and Tony Ferguson from yesterday are available at MMANewsline.com.
Newly Crowned Bantamweight Champion Cody ‘No Love’ Garbrandt also met with Mike Tyson earlier this year, and that story ‘Champ to Champ: A look at Cody Garbrandt and Mike Tyson‘ is available here.
