Jim Edwards of FloCombat.com reported today that to the knowledge of UFC officials, Ronda Rousey will attend both ceremonial weigh-ins and early weigh-ins as originally planned.
There has been a selective media blackout for Rousey ever since she lost the UFC Bantamweight Championship to Holly Holm last November at UFC 193. Rumors swirled around twitter today that “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey wouldn’t allow any media or cameras at the weigh-ins as she apparently was exempt from all media — including press conferences, and televised weigh-ins ahead of Friday’s UFC 207 PPV.
It’s not true though, as @MMA_Jim tweeted this just two days before the both weigh-ins are scheduled:
UFC officials confirmed to me @FloCombat
- Ronda Rousey will be at the ceremonial weigh-ins
- Camera equipment allowed at early weigh-ins pic.twitter.com/2Li7HjPyrZ— Jim Edwards (@MMA_Jim) December 27, 2016
Current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes won’t be seen this week until pre-fight weigh ins as she too is making herself scarce ahead of the December 30 fight with Rousey.
The UFC didn’t help either — as many ads featured only shots of Ronda Rousey, or worse — two shots of Rousey and none of Nunes.
The UFC barely filmed any new promotional footage ahead of UFC 207 for the 135-pound champion either, as they (The UFC) decided to reused old footage of Nunes ahead of this weeks fight. Just watch the opening minute of each Amanda Nunes video down below — the opening minute is nearly identical.
Amanda Nunes UFC 200 Promo — “All in”
Amanda Nunes UFC 207 Promo — “The Rise of Amanda Nunes”
Other than those videos nearly all of the UFC’s promotional efforts have focused on Ronda Rousey.
I find it extremely bizarre that all these @UFC 207 promos only focus on Ronda and very little about the champion @Amanda_Leoa

Do you agree with UFC announcer Joe Rogan? Should The UFC put more emphasis on Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes ahead of UFC 207? Tell us what you think in the comment section!
